Children beyond seven years of age who were not baptized as infants and who wish to become members of the Catholic Church are enrolled in the R.C.I.C. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Children) program. Their formation as Christians is a spiritual and educational process which extends over several months or longer, depending on the child’s readiness.
Parents are expected to take an active part in preparing their children for the initiation sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
Children beyond seven years of age who have been baptized Catholic as infants but never instructed in the faith will go through a similar process to receive the Sacraments of Eucharist and Reconciliation.
